February Auction Attracts Bids From Across the Globe

Robert Bell & Company’s first auction of the year saw bidders from across the country, and the globe, submit 3000 bids between them during a competitive day’s selling.

The Period & Modern Household Furniture & Effects sale, listed on UKAuctioneers.com and sold through the website’s live bidding portal, enjoyed a 99.3% sold ratio as only two lots went without a buyer across the five hours.

Notable lots included:

Public pay telephone and two further pay boxes (£940)
Two modern green leather button-back 3-seater Chesterfields (£720)
McIntosh vintage teak sideboard (£500)
Collection of Shelley dainty shape gilt coloured teaware (£480)
Congreve rolling ball clock under glass case (£470)
The National brass cash register (£470)

Since the pandemic began our Auction department has moved online; our last public sale at Stanhope Hall took place on 26th February 2020. Since then, five auctions of chattels plus a very successful two-day local farm sale have all been held via the internet. We have further sales scheduled this year; on 28th April, 30th June, 29th September and 24th November.
